The Chronicles

March 2009

Salutations dear readers and fellow Laurentian neighbors,

Since I've started writing these articles I've pretty much focused on our computer and its functions; however, I'd like to take a tangent and cover a very, VERY popular topic amongst my clients: Digital Photography. Oooo, isn't that exciting? I could probably write about this subject for the rest of my life (but won't, don't worry ...) as it is such a wonderful invention and is most certainly my favorite gadget amongst all gadgets.

Let's get started then shall we ...

When I sit down with someone who is curious about Digital Photography, I explain that there are some steps one must learn: 1. how to take photos (a bad photo will always be a bad photo), 2. transferring them to the computer, 3. rotating and selecting the ones to keep, 4. renaming and finally 5. organizing your photos. Once this is understood, an array of projects opens up to you such as: sending these via e-mail, reworking them, printing them (in a calendar format for example), posting them on a Web site, burning them to cd/dvd, copying them to a usb key (for back-up purposes or watching them on TV with friends, for instance) and on and on we go ...

So these are the subjects I'll cover over the months to come. However, before all of this can even begin, we should have a quick look about choosing a Digital Camera. Here is a handy chart to help you decide which style you may like. I found this information at: http://www.digicamhelp.com/buying-guide/choose-chart/
